Arsenal Transfer News: Big offer for Man Utd target, striker update, agent stuns Chelsea

Arsenal sent out their head scout to run the rule over Jorginho.
The Napoli star has found himself linked with a move to Manchester United and Liverpool too, with both clubs believed to be considering tabling offers in January.
But the Gunners have been told they must make a big offer to stand a chance of landing the 23-year-old.
“The priority is getting a call-up for the [Italy] national team, then there’s the January transfer market,” Jorginho’s agent Joao Santos told Radio CRC.
“If Napoli receive an irrefutable offer for Jorginho in January then it’s normal that we’d make our assessments.”

Joel Campbell does not want to leave Arsenal and will ‘keep fighting’ for his dream at the Emirates, despite rumours of a move to Galatasaray.

The 23-year-old has been thrown into Arsenal’s starting line-ups after injuries to Aaron Ramsey, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott and has managed to open his account for the club against Swansea.
Reports on Monday suggested the Turkish giants were plotting a January move for the Costa Rica international but Campbell says he will keep fighting to hold onto his starting spot.
“No [I didn’t want to move],” he told IBTimes UK. “I’m here at Arsenal, I am very happy.
“I keep fighting for my dream and I think I still have a long-term future here.
“Obviously a player always wants to play but in a team which has so many quality players like Arsenal, you need to be patient and taking the chance when it arrives.
“I’m still working and trying to seize the opportunities that the boss is giving me. Every opportunity is invaluable to me and I am trying to give my best.”

MRI Scan Is Not Reliable - Garba Lawal

Nigeria Ex-international, Garba Lawal has faulted the MRI scan which was used to carry out the real age investigation for the U17 Golden Eaglets.
He told naij.com shortly after the team won the FIFA U17 world cup that the machine cannot be trusted.

Garba Lawal
The 41-year-old 1996 Olympics gold medalist said he knew the team would win the tournament and retain the trophy which was later won back to back:
“They tried I must say and from the beginning of the tournament they knew they had to win their matches and they won all of their games. They did excellent.”
Speaking further, he advised the players to remain focused and be wary of dubious agents out to cheat them:
“they need to be careful. The problem with Nigerian football is partly caused by agents. The agents are dubious sometimes. They are dubious. These agents will make a lot of noise about them saying I want to take you to here or there.
“The boys need to be focused. They need to be careful of these agents because after most of these U-17 World cup out boys are no where to be found in senior teams. They are gone and I keep on asking myself what is happening.
“They start fine but at the end they just disappear and you won’t see them anymore. My concern is that they must get where they are going to have playing time week in and week out,”he added.

Garba Lawal

Reacting to the over-age allegations made against the team by some people, Garba Lawal said we cannot entirely rely on the MRI Scan because it is not reliable:
“You can not talk of overage now because they did MRI. But the MRI is actually the problem. Maybe I am 30 and I passed the MRI. Yes, it happens so many times.”
“So the machine is not useful that much any longer. It is the player and his parents that can tell a player’s true age not the machines. We know the truth.
“I tell you if I come in as an overage player and that tell you my age is 16, there is nothing you can do. So we have to be careful about that so that we don’t blame the players but also the machine.

The Two players of Giwa FC of Jos have felt the wrath of the League Management Company (LMC) following their unruly nature in a game against Nasarawa United.

Nojeem Raji of GIWA FC

Amos Gyang of GIWA FC

Gyang was fined 50,000 Naira for his misconduct and suspended for two matches, while Raji was banned for six matches for punching the referee in the face amid protests by his teammates, Africanfootball.com reports
The LMC also sanctioned the club for abandoning Week 38 game of the Nigeria league in Lafia against Nasarawa United.

Giwa FC refused to continue with the game in 34th minute, forcing referee Ibrahim Ishaku to call off the match at the expiration of the first half.

Stated in LMC’s rules and regulations, the unruly behaviour from the player is against article 13.26 of the Framework and Rules of the Nigeria Professional Football League.
The Jos based team were fined N3million, a deduction of three points and forfeiture of three points and three goals to Nasarawa United for the abandoned Week 38 match.
The club and the players now have 48 hours to either accept the decisions of the LMC or opt for an appearance before a panel.
Giwa finished fifth on the log in the just concluded season and narrowly missed out on a confederation cup ticket.

NNPC Pipeline Explodes In Warri

Reports just reaching Thatnaija.blogspot.com have that a pipeline belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in Warri main town, Delta state, has exploded resulting in a massive inferno that appears to be burning uncontrollably.

The scene of the pipeline explosion
The cause of the fire which erupted close to the Mammy Barracks, not far from a shopping mall in the area has not yet been ascertained. Our correspondent at the scene reports that the fire fighters who arrived to battle the inferno are just watching helplessly saying they can do little or nothing to put out the fire.

The difficulties faced by the authorities in controlling the flame follows from the fact that the explosion erupted from three spots in the pipeline and extends to about two kilometres into the bush. As at the time of filing in this report, the fire was still burning uncontrollably.

Most pipeline explosions in time past have been blamed on the activities of oil thieves. Just yesterday suspected illegal oil bunkers engaged soldiers attached to Operation Messa in gun battle at 4th Avenue, Festac area of Lagos state.
The newly appointed Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral I.E. Ibas, has vowed to use all the available resources at his disposal to confront crude oil thieves and other criminals in the maritime sector of the country.
