“West Africa Ebola Outbreak Could End This Year” — WHO

The head of the World Health Organization said Thursday that Ebola in West Africa could be “soundly defeated” by the end of this year. Dr. Margaret Chan told the U.N. Security Council that current surveillance and response capacities have greatly improved and health workers have a better picture of how the disease spreads.
Speaking via a video link from Hong Kong, she said the three most affected West African countries have made huge progress. New cases in Liberia have stopped, and in Guinea and Sierra Leone a total of only three cases have been reported during each of the past two weeks.
The WHO says the latest outbreak of Ebola, which started last year, will not be officially over until there are zero cases of the virus. Affected countries need to have no new reported cases for 42 days before they can be declared virus-free.
There have been nearly 28,000 cases of Ebola and more than 11,000 deaths

Christlike? 92-Year-Old Woman Kicked Out Of Church For Defaulting On Tithes Payment

Josephine King, 92, recently received a letter informing her that she has been removed from the membership roster at the First African Baptist Church in Bainbridge, Georgia.
“Josephine King is no longer considered a member of the First African Baptist Church of Bainbridge, Georgia,” read Gerald Simmons, King’s nephew.
The letter, which was signed by a Senior Pastor of the Church, Derrick Mike, claimed that King “has shown non-support” to the ministry in the areas of “constant and consistent financial and physical participation.”
The nonagenarian, who served the church as a member of the congregation for more than 50 years, was naturally shocked by the letter of removal.
According to Simmons, his aunt had been dealing with health complications and was considered sick and shut-in, which explains her lack of attendance. He also shared that during her 50-year membership with the church, she has gone above and beyond to show her support.
Simmons said:
“You shouldn’t chase the individuals down. You shouldn’t do that. If that’s the case, you’re money hungry.
You have to have money to make these churches run, but it’s not about money,” Simmons continued. “It’s about God. You have to put God first.”
They know good and well that they didn’t have to do Auntie JoJo like that.
