38 Bags Of Weed Recovered From Men Claiming To Be Military Personnel In Akwa Ibom

On 12th August 2015, at about 9:30am, Police Safer Highway patrol team along Calabar-Itu Highway intercepted a Toyota Sienna Space Wagon (reg. no withheld) with two male occupants conveying 38 bags of weed suspected to be indian hemp from Cross River State to Akwa-Ibom State.
The two occupants introduced themselves as Pte Charles Nwofe and Felix Asuquo Udoh of 5 Brigade Ibagwa Barracks Uyo. Both suspects were arrested and taken into custody with the exhibits. State CIID Uyo is investigating.Meanwhile, On 12th August, 2015 at about 9:30am Police patrol along Mambilla Hills in Sarduana LGA accosted a gang of suspected armed bandits who barricaded the road in readiness to rob innocent citizens. A shootout ensued between the Police and the Hoodlums which resulted in fatal injury of two of the suspects, while two others were arrested after sustaining bullet injuries. Arms and ammunition and some charms were recovered from the bandits. Corpses deposited at the mortuary, State CIID Jalingo is investigating.
