8 Suspected Boko Haram Insurgents Reportedly Denounce Membership

Reports have it that no fewer than eight suspected Boko Haram men have renounced membership of the violent sect after they were arrested in Borno southern town. The eight men, according to the chairman of Civilian JTF (youth vigilante) at Mussa District, in Askira/Uba Local Government Area, Apagu Istifanus, claimed they were fed up with the violent campaigns of the militia and as such allegedly resolved to quit.
Apagu said the insurgents were interrogated by the vigilante before handing them over to the military in neighbouring Mubi, Adamawa State..
‘’We arrested eight Boko Haram members at Mussa around 4pm on Thursday. When we interrogated them, they said they were tired, they don’t want to fight Jihads again and we handed them over to the military in Mubi, Adamawa State for more information,” he said. He claimed that six of the suspects said they came from Gwoza, a Boko Haram stronghold near the area.
